Coronary aterosclerotic plaque assessment during CT-angiographyReview article
- Klinika zobrazovacích metod LF UK a FN, Plzeň
The classification of the particular types of the aterosclerotic leasions according to the American Heart Association (AHA) are based on the histological classification of the aterosclerotic plaques. The practical consequence is the identification of those elatively safe lesions and those relatively dangerous lesions with increased probability of complications. There are following dangerous lesions distinguishable with CT: plaque with cholesterol core and fibrous cap, nude cholesterol core, and clot formation. The reason why the characteristics of the lesions should be evaluated is that potential risk should of the lesions could be evaluated, also coronary arterial disease could be staged or the CT imaging could be used in the antilipidemic therapy response assessments.
