Aim: The aim of our study was to asses agreement of amount of emphysema measurement done by two different software programs and to compare aquiered data with lung functional tests.

Methods: We assesed 25 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 8 women and 17 men. The extent of lung emphysema was measured by automatic assesment system Pulmo 3D and COPD. There was also done comparison of calculated amount of emphysema and lung functional tests.

Results: According to the Bland Altmans Metod there was the average diference between calculated volume of emphysema 692 ml if B50f kernel was used and 55 ml if F31f kernel was used Nevertheless the corelation was found between both automatically counted volume of emphysematic tissue and functional lung tests in KCO (transfercoeficient) values.

Conclusion: We have not found statisticaly significant diference between different types of automatical assesment programs if kernel F31f was used. Significant defference was found when reconstruction algorythm B50f was used. Counted volume of lung emphysema correlates well with decrease of CO diffusion in lung parenchyma. This prooves the accuracy of used method.
