Aim: Authors retrospectively evaluate 267 CT enteroclysis examinations and their contribution to the diagnosis of Crohn's disease, which was the most frequent indication (75 %) as well as pathologic finding (40 %).

Method: Patients were examined using 16-slice (234 examinations) and 64-slice (33 examinations) multidetector CT.

Results: The most prominent features of Crohn's disease were mural thickening (39 %) and contrast enhancement (33 %) of small bowel wall. Hyperaemia and inflammatory infiltration of mesenteric fat (27 %), desmoplastic changes of adjacent mesentery (12 %), and multiple enlarged lymph nodes were found as extraintestinal features.

Conclusion: The metod proved to be very useful at both suspection on Crohn's disease and monitoring of treatment or chronic changes including extraintestinal complications. According to our experience, CT enteroclysis may substitute conventional barium enteroclysis in all indications. The main limitation of the method still remains radiation dose. Some problems can be particularly solved with oral administration of osmotic active solution.
