Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a therapeutic method used for management of inoperable primary and secondary liver malignancies. It was first introduced in 1990. The method is based on thermal coagulation necrosis of tumourous tissue using high frequency alternating electric current. Imaging is essential for assessment of therapeutic effect and detection of complications. Knowledge of normal and abnormal imaging findings on follow-up examinations is necessary for correct interpretation. The aim of this paper is to bring an overview of appearances of lesions treated with RFA.
