Ganglion of the anterior cruciate ligament, imaging with magnetic resonanceCase report

Intraarticular ganglion cysts of the cruciate ligaments of the knee are uncommon. The authors present a case of 25 years old male complained of suddenly appeared pain of the left knee in association to garden work. MRI of the left knee revealed a well demarcated cystic mass adjacent to the anterior cruciate ligament measuring 33 × 17 × 25 mm and reaching the posterior aspect of the joint capsule. The diffuse mucoid degeneration of the of the anterior cruciate ligament was not demonstrated. Arthroscopy identified a bulge in the area of cruciate ligaments which was arthroscopically removed. The patient had an excellent recovery. Postoperative MRI demonstrated only residuae of the capsule of ganglion cyst and weakening of the anterior cruciate ligament.
