Aim: Place an overview of current views on the indication and IVU in children.

Conclusion: The importance of IVU decreases at present and other examination methods are preferred - especially ultrasonography, MRU and renal scintigraphy. The main reason for this trend is to reduce the radiation dose to the pediatric patients. The remaining indications: pre- and postoperative conditions, urinary tract trauma, urolithiasis, ureterolithiasis, congenital anomalies of the kidneys.

Keywords: Intravenous urography, performing intravenous urography in children, indications for intravenous urography in children
