Ozone (O3) gas is a molecule consisting of three atoms of oxygen and powerful oxidant with dynamically unstable structure due to the presence of mesomeric states. Although O3 has potential dangerous effects, yet many studies confirm that it has also many therapeutic effects. Ozone therapy has been utilized and heavily studied for more than a century. Its effects are proven, consistent, safe and with minimal and preventable side effects. Temporomandibular joint disorders are common in adults; temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder refers to a cluster of conditions characterized by pain in the TMJ or its surrounding tissues, functional limitations of the mandible, or clicking in the TMJ during motion. The etiology of TMJ disorders remains unclear, but it is likely multifactorial. In this case report first experiences with the use of intraarticular aplication of ozone in treating TMJ are reviewed.
