Congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM typ I), children's diagnosis in an adult patientCase report

Differential diagnosis of unilateral cystic lesions in pulmonary parenchyma is vast. The main causes are emphysematous bullae, posttraumatic lesions, asymmetric fibrosis with honeycombing, etc. But we can find even rare congenital malformations in the broader differential diagnosis. Our case report is presenting a 62 years old female patient in whom there was a great bulla in left upper lobe diagnosed as an accidental finding. The Swyer-James syndrome and emphysematous bullae played the main role in the differential diagnosis. In the broader differential diagnosis, the congenital malformations were considered as possible. The patient underwent a resection and the final diagnosis was congenital pulmonary airway malformation type I. CPAM type I is a precancer to mucous carcinoma and the follow-up is necessary.
