The paper aims to present the current approach to implementing and evaluating magnetic resonance imaging in endometriosis. The authors give an overview of endometriosis forms.
They also deal with the imaging protocol concerning The Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) recommendation. The authors present the method of examination at the home workplace and experience in its implementation. The next part of the article presents a system for evaluating and scoring adenomyosis and endometriosis - especially DIE (deep infiltrating endometriosis), which is the most common reason for surgery.
The introduction of a system of examination and especially evaluation is a challenge for the future, not only for radiologists but also for other specialities; it is the basis for interdisciplinary cooperation with gynaecologists, urologists and surgeons. The exact language of communication between specialities should lead to consistent results, which will further help streamline the diagnostic process and optimize the following therapeutic approach.
