Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare pathologicalentity, in which the neuroimaging, especially MRI, is essential for thediagnosis. The disease is characterized by the typical distribution ofcerebral vasogenic edema. Several risk factors are known to be associated withthe PRES development. This case report describes PRES in a 46-year-old womantreated in the past for acute myeloid leukemia with numerous concomitantcomplications. The clinical manifestations of PRES is usually sudden andinclude a various neurological symptoms. The presence of uncontrolledhypertensive disease is a frequent finding. The treatment of PRES usuallyfocusses on the underlying disease. Although the prognosis of the PRES isgenerally considered to be favorable, the disease may not be completelyreversible and may also be fatal.
