Imaging of the brain with photon-counting CTReview article
- Klinika zobrazovacích metod LF UK a FN, Plzeň
Photon-counting CT is the most significant innovation in CT technology since the introduction of multidetector scanning techniques at the end of the last century. It allows the use of maximum high spatial resolution with noise minimization to identify very subtle changes and the possibility of a better interactive display of the difference in the behavior of brain tissue when differentiating individual types of brain edema and differentiating malatic tissue. A significant use is the rapid identification of saturation with iodine contrast material in control examinations following intra-arterial interventions. Compared to energy-integrating CT, a significant shift is the possibility of optimizing imaging due to the greater accuracy of distinguishing structures in different pathologies when using a standardized imaging protocol.
