Ultrasound of the elbow - indications, findings, intervention guidingReview article

The article displayes an overview of indications and findings in the ultrasound of the elbow, accompanied by a short topographic anatomic revision where relevant. The imaging of synovitis, periarticular tendon and muscle rupture, pathologic conditions of the ulnar and radial nerve and cystic or solid masses is discussed. Some other indications found in the literature are shortly mentioned. Finally, the role of ultrasound as a guiding tool in diagnostic and minor therapeutic procedures is assessed. The displayed images are derived from the long-standing archive of the author.
