The author presents both the issue and recommendations for patients with proven low-risk prostate cancer in the active monitoring mode from the perspective of a radiologist. The criteria for inclusion of the patient in the monitoring mode are presented, it is pointed out the possibilities and limitations of MR examinations for the purpose of active surveillance.

The dimensions of the renal pelvis in adults on CT scan are very variable and are significantly influenced by the hydration status. A significant effect of hydration status was also demonstrated in the width of the ureter. The lateral symmetry seems to be a more useful tool in the evaluation of upper urinary tract dilation.
