Metastatic lesions located in the umbilical region, which have the location of the original tumor in the abdominal cavity, are also called "Sister Marie Joseph's nodule" after the nurse who first pointed out this symptom. We present the case of a patient coming in for an ultrasound examination with a presumed gangrenous umbilical hernia, which turned out to be an incidental finding of a metastatic umbilical lesion, which then led to the primary diagnosis of endometroid carcinoma. The paper also includes a summary of the basic information about this so-called Sister Mary Joseph's nodule, including its diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
Keywords: endometroid carcinoma, intra-abdominal carcinomas, Sister Mary Joseph sign, umbilical metastasis, Sister Mary Joseph nodule.
